Exhibition of photographs
24 April – 28 August 2022
Focusing on themes related to flora and fauna, Sanna Kannisto’s artistic approach is influenced by both scientific research methods and art history, in a quest of the sense of wonder. In her work, human-made order and untamed creatures meet in a way that offers viewers a wide range of interpretations. Whether in the tropical forests of Latin America or in ornithological reserves in Europe, the artist observes the living, stages it and wonders about its fragility. Her magnificent photographs of birds on a white background offer several levels of reading: documentary, scientific, aesthetic and ecological.
Bringing together over twenty works and some documentary videos, the exhibition highlighted the artist’s creation and research over the past twenty years.
In parallel, works by Sanna Kannisto were presented at the Galerie la Ferronnerie, and Institut finlandais, Paris.
The exhibition received the support of FRAME, the Finnish Embassy in France, Les Amis de la Maison Carré and Hiscox.
