Exhibition Mindful Portraits

The portraits by Finnish painter Viggo Wallensköld (b. 1969) may seem classical at first glance, but soon the viewer’s attention is caught by some strange details. Alienation, imperfection and questions on inter-gender identity characterize many of his figures. These mindful portraits open up a new dimension in our consideration of other fellow humans. For Wallensköld’s first show in France since 2005, 23 portrait paintings, covering his career since 2002, have been selected for Maison Louis Carré and gathered from numerous museums, private owners and the artist’s collection.
